Free Jumping!

In spring of 1999, I trailered Allagash up to Delta Farm Sport Horses (Laurie's place) in order to free jump him.
He didn't seem to need much of a confidence boost, but it sure helped me. It allowed me to see him jumping, know that he *could* do it, and there by gave me more trust in him as a jumper.

Probably the BEST part of this was when we brought out Ally's dad, Delta's Shadow, and jumped him. WOW.

To say the least, Ally looks a *lot* like his father. About the only difference is that Ally is gelded and he definitely got his mom's ears, since they're a full inch longer than his father's.

This is Ally jumping the oxer.

Here dad (Delta's Shadow) is jumping the same oxer that Ally did, as a warm up fence. Obviously, not a big deal for him, since he isn't even tucking his legs in or really trying.

Here Ally is doing the oxer again. He's a little bit more confident, since he's let his right front leg drop just a bit.

So we raised the fence for dad. It's now a tripple bar, with a height of about 5'4". He still clears it easily. And he's not even competing much these days! Ally's cousin, Kilovolt is starting on Grand Prix's. Some serious talent in the family !
